Our Solution
This project is
carried out using the existing remote development
environment available at ESN/ESN using Advanced
Revelation technology and R/BASIC as a development
language. Some modules of the project involve SQL Server
programming.
Tools and Technologies
- Development Tools: Advanced
Revelation, R/Basic
- Databases: Advanced
Revelation, SQL Server
- Product Delivery Medium: VPN
Methodology
ESN
has a well-defined Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
model that takes an iterative approach in
executing a project. Each build or milestone would have
incremental functionality. Builds/milestones are
scheduled so that obtaining specific requirements
related to the build/milestone, revision of project
documents, planning, thorough testing and bug fixing are
carried out incrementally. This approach mitigates risks
in Project implementation.
Benefits
APS has
saved on development costs and resources for this
requirement. It took advantage of the rich domain
expertise we had in APS’s line of business.

Introduction
Paradigm is a Health Care management
application that administers programs like Medicare,
Medicaid and State Children’s Health Insurance
Program. The application caters to the members and
assists them in optimized utilization of the available
health plans as per the criteria given in the health
sector by the US Government. This being a consulting
body provides services to APS Clients through contracts.
Situation
The scope of this project is to carry
out enhancements to the system based on requirements
worked out with the client.
Features
Some of the Modules worked on
include:
Rebuild Accumulators
This a process that rebuilds a
member and his/her family’s accumulators, maintaining
each members external accumulator amounts as received by
APS from the Client. The system uses existing Advanced
Revelation database and tables.
Soft key Interface to Rebuild
Accumulators
This module provides a soft key interface to rebuild
accumulators taking information from the current claims
screen.
Redefined Plans
This module is a program on the process server (TPS)
that would query a table called "Redefined_plans",
that contains information about all the plans that have
changed. Then it selects all the members that have that
plan (changed plan) and rebuilds their accumulators.
After all the members have been rebuilt for a plan, that
plan will be removed from the Redefined plans table.
Triple C
This module takes Start Date and End Date from a
collector window, imports the corresponding data from
the SQL server and then directs the output to a Tab
delimited text file.
Kaiser Eligibility Import
This process imports membership data from a text
file sent by one of APS clients to the temporary SQL
server tables. After that it performs some validations
and combinations and then inserts the data into a number
of other SQL server tables. After, successful insertion,
it deletes the data from the temporary tables.
Our Process
Thorough study of requirements was
carried out leading to the preparation of Software
Requirements specification (SRS) and User Interface
Design (UID).
- Incremental and frequent Builds are sent to the
end-user according to the Project Schedule. This
helps obtain regular feedback from the client for
each module.
- Coding and UI standards are strictly adhered to.
Regular code reviews and walkthroughs are carried
out by the Quality Analyst and senior members of the
team.
- Unit, Integration and System testing are carried
out by using test plans and test scripts
Conclusion
Some of the project modules have been completed and are
being used by the client successfully. We work as an
extended team for this project carrying out enhancements
and modifications as and when required.
