This is a
system that enables users to book conference calls on
demand and is actually a part of an innovative
service that facilitates collaborations between people
over the Internet.
The system
works by interfacing in real-time with telecom service
providers computers and getting blocks of conference
call slots, which are then allocated by the system to
the users who request for the same. The allocated users
have to be physically sent an 'activation card' on receipt
of which they can dial up the telecom service provider
and get the conference call facility activated.
|
For
this purpose, the users are required to fill in their
postal address, using which the system sends requests
to a 'fulfillment agency' to physically dispatch the activation
cards. All such communications with external agencies
are automated and happen in real-time.
The system is being developed
as a Java 1.2 application and the interfaces are web-based
and use Java Servlets. The operating environment is Windows
2000 with IIS providing the http services. |
